HOW TO AUDIT YOUR LIFE IN 5 MINUTES

A life audit is, by all means, necessary at some point in everyone’s life. At some point, we may even audit ourselves without prior preparation and you may ask, is it possible to make changes to your life without preparing for it?

YES! It is possible, sometimes life happens and we need to reflect and adjust as soon as possible. Hence we are left with no choice but to review our lives in order to adapt and perform well.

What Is A Life Audit?

A life audit or self-audit is a process of conducting a review of your life and status. It is a way of reorganizing, re-navigating, collecting, and adjusting to a new process in order to achieve an objective. Simply put, a life audit is self-reflection and examination

Why You Need To Conduct Life Review

Collecting the necessary data will help you reflect properly and take the next action. A life audit is like a daily or weekly car maintenance check you do to your car in order to keep the engine or other essential parts working.

Benefits Of Auditing Your Life.

Conducting a periodical review of your life or an area of your life can be of many benefits and reasons.

Auditing is an important practice that if consciously and regularly done would help better an individual’s life and growth.

-Auditing is not only carried out by individuals, even big firms, companies, and institutions audit their company from time to time. Auditing help companies and businesses collect their data, and statements and report overall performance and sales in relation to the current state of the company. It is an assurance that your company is safe and free from misstatements.

-This also applies to individuals and personal brands, conducting an audit will help reveal the position of your life and brand. A thorough examination of an area of your life will reveal the situation of that area of your life.

-A self-audit will also reveal past and current performance of your life and goals. It may be that simple to set a goal, but achieving is easier said than done. A life audit will enable you to reflect on every step taken to arrive at the current results, and collect and analyze actions taken before now.

-No doubt we all want to grow our businesses, improve our health, be financially independent, whatever the case may be for you. A self-audit will help make decisions, put certain things in place to help you grow in your various desired areas of life.

-Finally, a life audit helps you learn about yourself because, in the process, you get to understand how far you can go, your non-negotiables, strength, weaknesses, and your limits.

AREAS OF LIFE TO AUDIT

Auditing your life in five minutes shouldn’t be that complicated, an effective inspection can be done by identifying an area you feel needs examination and starting from there. Sometimes we may not see the need because of how we are connected to this area Sometimes the hardest decisions are the best. For instance, we may have a toxic relative that we need to cut off for the sake of our sanity but because they are family, we may feel guilty and find it difficult to cut them off.

I feel you should normalize cutting off a toxic family member or a toxic friend. Identify your current state and decide what you need to change. Below are areas of life you should consider auditing.

  • Community
  • Health
  • Finances
  • Academic
  • Family
  • Relationship
  • Social life.

MY LIFE AUDIT EXPERIENCE.

Doing a life audit can be a great way to take charge and improve your life.

I recently did a blog audit after auditing my blog a few months ago. Before now I published content about wellness, self-improvement, lifestyle, blogging, and business on one site, and it just hit me that the scope is too wide to be in one place and that I may be confusing you guys. So it just dawned on me to do something about it. It didn’t take too long I figure out what to do.

For now, I would take down the blog and business post and focus on self-improvement and lifestyle. I immediately felt a sense of fulfillment and happiness. I feel more sure of the content I want to publish and the experience I want my readers to have

. One thing I can guarantee you do is to trust your guts, don’t think too much about it when situations like this arise, if you do, you might end up not take those important decisions.

HOW TO PERFORM A LIFE AUDIT IN MINUTES?

1. REVIEW AND COLLECT DATA

One thing usually leads to another, for you to want a change there must be a situation that you are not satisfied with. Auditing your life starts with a quick review or reflection of how things have been from a previous point to the current one. Do this by reminiscing and collecting data on your performance, achievements and mistakes along the way.

2. FOCUS ON WHAT YOU VALUE

If you get a chance, you’d properly want to change everything in your life, a never-ending change right? It is important to critically determine what is of value to us at the moment, is it taking a course or creating a course? Channeling your attention to the necessary things will result in more growth in the long run.

3. WRITE DOWN AND ARRANGE YOUR PRIORITISE

They say; to write a vision and make it plain. Write down and arrange your priorities according to your scale of preference and what is most important at the moment. Writing down your plans makes it easier to execute such plans.

4. BEGIN WITH YOUR MIND

Your mind is a powerhouse, anything you harbor in there will surely manifest. Start by reframing your mind and letting go of anything that does not serve you, negativity, tension, and grudges. Instead, be bold and have a can-do mindset.

5. ADJUST TO CHANGES AND SCHEDULE

Change is inevitable and permanent. It is one thing to make plans for changes and another to actually change. If you’re in the process of auditing your life, planning for change, and not acting out for change then the whole process amounts to nothing. You have to be ready and adjust to changes and schedules to see your goals come to life.

6. DO NOT FEEL GUILTY

Feeling guilty or regret is only going to hold you back from achieving or moving on. Don’t feel guilty for changing because everybody changes at one point in time and change are necessary for growth.  If you genuinely feel you need to change or discard your circle of friends in order to grow or just to have peace of mind, then do it without regrets.

7. ASK YOURSELF THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTIONS

This is the best way to really understand what to do and what actions to take. For you to effectively make changes in your life, you have to ask yourself thought-provoking questions, questions that will trigger your emotions and bring forth answers, after all, it is by questions that you get to know someone.

Questions like; how do I feel about this? What do I want?  What must I do to achieve this? What value is this adding to my life?

These questions will serve as guides to help you set the right goals and put things in place.

8. MAP OUT AN ACTION PLAN

Words without actions are nothing. If after examining and identifying changes that need to be done, you do not have a tangible action plan to achieve your objectives then the process is as good as nothing. Map out a realistic action plan to be carried out.

Now that you have identified and mapped out a plan, it is time to make the actual changes, starting with one and easiest at a time. For example, if you want to become a social media influencer, start by picking a platform that you’re most comfortable with and start creating content for it.

The good thing about auditing yourself is that you don’t need to wait till it’s summer or mid-year to have an audit. An important area of our lives may need attention at any time hence, it can be done at any time.
